Urban Decay’s Urban Defense Tinted Moisturizer in SPF 20

Urban Defense Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20

Urban Defense Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20

So Summer is here and  I need a product that will give me coverage not necessarily a full one,  just enough to even out my skin tone and not accentuate my pores.  For a hot and humid season like this, I prefer to stay away from full coverage foundation.  I just need my skin to breathe and not to look cakey.  Ever since I started using BB creams, I kissed my foundation goodbye.  I just love that bare face feel, kind of a “my skin but better” moment.

When Urban Decay had their Urban Defense Tinted Moisturizer in SPF 20 on sale (It only costs me less than a 1/3 of its original price), I immediately added this into my cart.  After I tried this, I asked myself why I didn’t even gave it a chance long before.  My shade is in Bulletproof.  Urban Decay are very creative when it comes to giving names to the shades of its products.  However, there’s only 4 shades available: Halo, Bodyguard, Bulletproof and Forcefield, so not a lot of options for a wide range of skin tones.

Active Ingredients: Octocrylene (8.0%) and Octinoxate (7.5%)

You need to apply this quickly as this dries up pretty fast.  The good thing is, it’s buildable if you want a bit “fuller” coverage.  Just wait for it to set for a few minutes, then apply again.

How I apply this:

After I cleaned, toned and moisturized my face, I put on a tiny bead into my palm, just a pea-sized.  I still put on my daily moisturizer as I do have dry skin, which is leans to combination on my T-zone during the summer.  Then, I mixed it with my finger.  Then I use that finger to apply a dot into the key zones on my face: nose, both cheeks, forehead, chin and my neck.  Then I blend it from the center of my face outwards using a flat-topped duo-fiber or skunk brush.  After it’s completely blended, I set it with Ben Nye’s Mojave Luxury Powder in Olive Sand with the use of a flat-topped powder brush for a more polished look.  This routine of mine is very easy, yet does wonders.

If you prefer a full coverage foundation, Urban Decay’s Tinted Moisturizer in SPF 20 may not be the product for you.  But if you love a barely-there made-up face, that you can sport in the beach or under the sun with no worries of it melting, this is a definite must-have for you.  Check out the review of Christine from Temptalia regarding this amazing product.

Did you get the chance to purchase any of the on sale goods from Urban Decay?  Would you prefer a Tinted Moisturizer over BB creams, cream, powder or liquid foundation this summer?
