Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks in Catfight, Venom and Fiend Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks were launched last July 9th, as part of their Fall 2013 Collection, which bears a tagline: creamy, badass and luxury. I purchased it since I wanted to see how the shades would look on olive to medium dark to deeper skin toned girls. The lipstick shades differ per skin tone and lip pigmentation. I also did get the chance to purchase and review Urban Decay’s b6 Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep spray a few weeks back, which is also part of this collection. It is my new HG for my daily setting spray, replacing my UD All-Nighter.
Moving on with my Urban Decay’s Revolution Lipsticks review, I took the opportunity to purchase 3 out of the 22 shades: Catfight, Venom and Fiend. I got one representative color per shade from the collection. The darker more pigmented shades offers superb pigmentation with just one swipe and lasted an average of 5 hours of wear on me while the lighter pinkish nude shades lasted around 3 hours. At work, I get to reapply it twice for the entirety of my 12 hour shift. It is a very hydrating formula, especially between the 1st to 4th hour of wear, however, I did notice that it starts to get a bit drying during the 6th hour. The deeper shades left a stain on my lips while I did not have any on the pinkish nude one. It got a fair amount of slip due to its creamy consistency but not too creamy that it will bleed or feather and it doesn’t leave a line on the cracks of my lips if I pressed them together.
1. Catfight A+
It is described as a pink fuchsia with a slight red undertone. It does look like a bright warm fuchsia on my skin. When I wore this to work, I received countless compliments from colleagues. I think this shade is my “go-to” bright fuchsia but not too bright like neon to draw attention. This lasted for 5 hours and left a stain on my lips on the 7th hour of wear.
2. Venom A+
It is described as a bright plum. It looks like a deep wine color with purple shimmer on me. This is my favorite from the 3 and absolutely a Fall 2013 color. It lasted for 6 hours on me and left a stain on my lips.
3. Fiend A-
It is described as a muted rose. It appears as a warm rosy pink on me and lasted for 3 hours without leaving any stain. It’s a nice shade paired with a dark smokey eye. This is the least pigmented from the 3 that I need to build it in about 3 swipes.
I would recommend these 3 shades I picked up for everyone most especially to the warm medium dark or deeper toned and olive toned girls. They are absolutely perfect shades this Fall 2o13. I would also like to wear it this Winter and see if it will change its hydrating capability and longevity. If we compare in terms of creamy lipsticks performance, they are pretty pricey than your average creamy drugstore lipsticks but it is still a cheaper alternative when compared to the high-end brands like Tom Ford, Guerlain and Givenchy. My advice: Go purchase one (your top choice) and try it on for a week (recommended to wear this to school or work for honest feedbacks) and if you love it, go get the other shades from the collection.
Have you tried any of these creamy, badass, luxury lippies yet? What shades from the Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks collection are you currently wearing?
