Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal Reviews, Photos w/ Swatches
It’s a perfect face Illuminator from a vegan and cruelty-free company for dark/golden mixed-bred complexion like mine! Definitely an OPAL-escence!
It’s actually my first time to use and try a product from Becca Cosmetics. For someone of a mixed-race, it is always stressful to find makeup products that suits and blends naturally with your own skin tone. You are always considered an “in-between”. It is even harder to know that a pro-MUA from Sephora wasn’t successful to match my skin with the countless foundations they have available, even using their new Color IQ system with Pantone. That’s why I just stayed away from using foundation (since late last year) and just stick with BB creams that automatically adjusts with your own skin tone. So if you can relate (a mixture of one or more races), experienced this dilemma for such a long time, Becca Cosmetics offers an extensive range of makeup products that are very specific up to the minimum made especially for us, mixed breeds.
I always use highlighters / illuminators on a daily basis. It does help out a lot for facial contouring, highlighting one of my assets (my cheekbones) or simply just for an everyday glow. I also wear this not only during the summertime, but most especially during those dull, dry winter months. I want to bring the summer glow at the dead of winter.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal is described as a golden opal pearl. It appears as a warm midtone yellow gold with a luminous pearl sheen. It lasted for 10 hours on me without a primer/base on my cheekbones and browbones, 8 hours w/o primer/base on T-zones and over 14 hours with a primer and setting spray combination. It can also be used as a face illuminator if you mixed it 1:1 with your BB cream or foundation after you apply your face primer. Or an all over body glow if mixed with your daily moisturizer.
My staple highlighters are: TheBalm Mary Lou-manizer and Nars Illuminator in Copacobana. When compared with the two: TheBalm Mary Lou-manizer is cooler toned and Nars Copacobana is also cooler toned and more shimmery.
According to Becca Cosmetics:
What It does:
Achieve a subtle luminosity. This formula features ultrafine light-reflecting pearls that melt into your skin for polished, natural-looking radiance. Water-light and sheer, it has a prismatic effect that allows it to adjust in any light, so your refined glow is never lost.
-Vitamins A, B, D, and E: Guard against daily damage caused by free radicals.
-Avocado Oil: Provides antioxidants and emollients.
-Witch Hazel: Tightens the appearance of skin and reduces the look of puffiness and redness.
-Aloe Extract: Soothes the skin.
The Bottom line:
I absolutely recommend this product especially for those olive, medium to dark golden skin with warm undertones. This is the type of highlighter which doesn’t look too yellow on us and just blends very well and gives us that natural glow. It is very lightweight and doesn’t even feel too sticky when applied. I would love to purchase the pressed form which just got released recently. I apply this using my fingertips or with a duo-fiber brush. You only need the tiniest bead and it will take care the rest of your face for a highlight. It takes some trial and error to achieve the desired amount suited for your skin tone. Although it’s a shimmering skin perfector, it doesn’t have that over the top shimmer that makes your pores pop up.
