YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis a Levres Rose Baby Doll Glossy Stain Review, Photos w/ Swatches
Combines the texture and shine of a gloss and the longevity of a stain, the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis a Levres Rose Baby Doll Glossy Stain, is definitely a “Holy Grail” to all gloss fans out there.
YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis a Levres Rose Baby Doll Glossy Stain is a limited edition gloss hybrid for Spring/Summer 2013 and is described as a bright fuchsia. It appears as a vivid raspberry red with subtle cool undertones as it sets on my lips. It averages 6 hours of wear with a stain that lingers for an extra 2.5 hours. Its shine lasted for 4 hours on me (with little drinking and no eating) and 2 hours (with drinking and eating). It is very lightweight, almost water-like in texture when first applied and becomes slightly tacky as it settles in about 10 minutes after. It has a mostly opaque color coverage with just a tad bit of translucency worthy to be called a glossy stain. The formulation is neither drying nor hydrating. It also got a light rosy fragrance in it which slowly fades within the first 5 minutes of wear.
The Bottom Line:
Its opacity is so intense that it does leave a stain so be careful when wearing scarves or light-colored hanky. If compared with similar products on the market these days, like OCC stained gloss, it is less opaque, more lightweight and less tacky. It’s a actually a color you can use all-year round paired with just a winged eye with no eyeshadow needed. You can either build it up for a more opaque coverage or sheer it down for a more wearable look. However, keep in mind that it settles a tad bit of the product into your lip lines. If you don’t like peppermint scent from the OCC Stained Gloss but would prefer a light rosy scent, then this is the product for you. If you are not into scents at all, the fragrance of this product fades away within the first 5 minutes of wearing it. The great thing with YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis a Levres Rose Baby Doll Glossy Stain, even if it is still technically considered as a gloss, you don’t have to keep re-applying it every 2-3 hours.
